Position Summary
The Box Truck Medical Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of patient specimens, medical supplies, equipment, documents, and other medical materials between designated locations. The driver is responsible for properly loading, securing, transporting, and unloading materials in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, applicable regulations, and safety standards.

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of medical materials throughout the transportation process.

Shift Needed: 1st
Schedule Needed: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned or requested based on business needs:

Operate a company box truck safely and responsibly to transport patient specimens, medical supplies, equipment, documents, and other medical materials.
Load, secure, transport, and unload materials in accordance with company procedures and customer-specific requirements.
Ensure specimens and other temperature-sensitive, fragile, or time-sensitive materials are handled and transported appropriately to maintain their integrity.
Verify that items are properly labeled, secured, and delivered to the correct destination.
Complete pickups and deliveries accurately, safely, and within established timeframes and routing requirements.
Follow all established chain-of-custody, specimen-handling, security, and delivery procedures.
Operate a manual pallet jack to safely move, load, unload, stack, and unstack pallets and other materials.
Maintain accurate, complete, and legible delivery and pickup records, including required signatures, documentation, and status updates.
Communicate promptly with Dispatch and/or management regarding delivery delays, route changes, customer concerns, vehicle issues, accidents, or other circumstances that may affect service.
Interact with customers, healthcare personnel, patients, vendors, and coworkers in a courteous, professional, and respectful manner.
Protect confidential and sensitive information and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times. HIPAA training will be provided.
Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any safety, maintenance, or mechanical concerns promptly.
Maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of the assigned company vehicle.
Follow all company safety policies, transportation procedures, traffic laws, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively while interacting with customers and the public.
Work independently while maintaining communication with Dispatch and management as required.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Previous experience operating a box truck, delivery vehicle, commercial vehicle, or similar vehicle preferred.
Experience in medical, healthcare, laboratory, courier, logistics, or specimen transportation is a plus.
Knowledge of safe driving practices, traffic laws, and vehicle safety procedures.
Ability to safely operate a box truck and manual pallet jack.
Strong time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and company privacy requirements.
Dependable, punctual, professional, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates a strong work ethic, integrity, accountability, and commitment to safety.
Ability to accurately complete required documentation and use basic technology, such as a mobile device, GPS/navigation system, delivery application, or electronic delivery records.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Box Truck Medical Driver position. Ability to frequently enter and exit a box truck throughout the workday, including stepping up and down from the vehicle.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while performing pickups, deliveries, loading, and unloading activities.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, push, pull, and climb as necessary to safely perform job duties.
Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to operate a manual pallet jack and safely move pallets and other materials over various surfaces.
Ability to load, unload, position, and secure medical supplies, specimens, equipment, containers, and other materials within the vehicle.
Ability to safely handle packages and materials of varying sizes, weights, shapes, and configurations.
Ability to maintain balance and stability while walking, loading, unloading, and entering or exiting the vehicle.
Ability to use hands, wrists, and arms for frequent gripping, grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and securing cargo.
Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle for extended periods, with frequent periods of standing, walking, and physical activity.
Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with driving, loading, unloading, and securing materials.
Ability to hear sufficiently to safely operate a motor vehicle, communicate with customers and coworkers, respond to traffic and environmental conditions, and follow verbal instructions.
Ability to see sufficiently to safely operate a motor vehicle, read labels and delivery documentation, navigate routes, identify addresses and locations, and perform required inspections. Specific visual abilities may include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work safely in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, temperature variations, rain, snow, wind, heat, cold, and other weather conditions.
Ability to safely perform job duties in environments that may include loading docks, warehouses, parking areas, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and other customer locations.
Ability to wear required company-provided or job-appropriate attire, footwear, and personal protective equipment (PPE), when applicable.
Ability to maintain sufficient physical stamina and alertness to safely complete assigned routes and delivery responsibilities.

The position may require occasional handling of heavier items or materials. Employees are expected to use proper lifting techniques and follow company safety procedures when handling materials. Mechanical assistance or team lifting should be used when required by company policy or when an item cannot be safely handled by one person.
